Bob farmed organically in North Carolina for several years, taught at an independent school in New York City and at The City University of New York, and then went on to serve as the educational and environmental program officer at the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. Following that assignment, he became Director of the Albemarle Ecological Field Site for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill until his retirement.
"I formed a friendship with the co-founders of A Better World Fund decades ago and was taken by their commitment to improve the state of the world--in whatever small way they could. To join them in that effort I contributed some funds and then, a few years later, became a member of the board. I’ve been impressed by the organization's tremendous efficiency, its integrity, and its success in meeting its mission."
